State Prosecutor’s Office not to allow relativization of animal torture acts.

State Prosecutor’s Office not to allow relativization of animal torture acts.

Non-governmental organization Animal House condemns the latest act of animal abuse committed by a minor in Plav.

Montenegrin Police have received multiple calls from citizens and NGOs, both Montenegrin and regional, including the “Leviathan Movement”, regarding torture and abuse of a canine in Plav municipality. Acting within their scope of official duties, and upon civil society’s request, the Council for Civil Control of Police is monitoring police conduct and the use of police authority.

According to the Council’s latest information, the officers from Plav Security Department have successfully identified persons from video recordings and photographs, and are awaiting further instructions from the State Prosecutor’s Office.

We call on the State Prosecutor’s Office not to succumb to the local community pressure, and not to accept a calculated defense prepared in advance which argues that this was a spontaneous act. Namely, based on the social media posts, the persons in question are linked to previous instances of animal torture and abuse.
